Welcome to the forums, Paul! :D That manuscript bears some similarity to the Voynich manuscript in terms of style, but other than that I haven't any ideas just yet. But hopefully one of our forum members could help!

Hi Aaron,

Thanks for the welcome. I thought it looked a bit Voynichy too.

Two further observations:

1. Language is almost certainly 17th century English or Latin
2. If it is a simple substitution code there is a 4-character word ABCD, a 3-character word ABD, and a 6(?)-character word EDAADF

'giertzzen' now thats a lovely word, missed the dividing dot - it should be

over the fier then strow some

also mixed up sulphur with vitrius - perhaps that produces giertzzen :)
